As I'm sitting here on this quiet afternoon in the office and looking out the window on this beautiful summer's day, it got me thinking about my childhood memories of spending my summer days out at the cottage (not in an office!). I know next summer I will get more vacation time but in the meantime, I'm just reflecting and decided to share some photos from our past favourite summer spots!
For one week every year, my family and our cousins rented out this cottage by Lake Simcoe (I just realized we don't have an actual picture of the cottage!). We'd been renting it for as long as I can remember; I think the very first summer was just after SK for me! We only stopped going up just a couple of years ago, when the cousins (myself included!) got jobs in the summer, spent it more with friends through the teenage years and just couldn't find the time anymore. We all hold very fond memories of this place though! We used to go tubing and film home movies for fun all the time!
A beautiful photograph! (that's me on the dock!)
My sister on the dock and our cousin Steven paddling in the tube.
Another place we love is our uncle's three cottages up at Wasaga Beach! Here are two of the cottages:
And the third one, which looks like a lovely little cabin (complete with the hot tub!):

The beautiful view from down by the beach:
Every night, there are amazing sunsets:
Our third favourite place to go to was my aunt and uncle's cottage up at Six Mile Lake. The boat and dock from slightly different angles:
The small (but warm!) little bonfire:
And every afternoon after a swim, my aunt would fill the deck with plenty of snacks and goodies (minus the beers at the time for us!) She knew we just couldn't wait until dinnertime!
This cottage holds a special place in my heart because it was primarily my uncle's cottage. My uncle unfortunately passed away earlier this year, at only 63. He suffered MS for many years.
So while I'm sitting here in this office on a quiet Friday afternoon (one more hour till home time!) I am imagining I am at one of these three places! Either that, or even a resort in Florida would be quite simply amazing too! (In Spring 2011, my family and I took our first Florida trip together to visit some family-friends. I'll probably share that in another post because we had such a great time!)
