Good morning everyone! I'm so sorry it's taken me a few days to update. If you saw my last entry, I was headed to Chicago for the weekend with some friends and man, was I ever exhausted afterwards! I had to take a day off from work just to recover! But it was such a nice trip, I never knew Chicago to be such a lovely city!
This was a view from one of our friend's hotel rooms -- the famous Chicago River. How beautiful is this! On the first day after we arrived, had some breakfast and settled in, we took a boat tour along this lovely river:
These were just some of the photos I took during the tour. As you can see, it was an absolutely gorgeous day! We really got lucky weather-wise.
Unlike the convenient stores in Canada, their Walgreens had a whole line of booze:
$30.99 for Grey Goose vodka??
For a late lunch / early dinner, we went to this place called Eataly. Apparently there's one in New York too. Basically it's a place that has a few floors of stores and counters that sell authentic Italian food. They have tables in the middle where you stand and can order food from whatever counter interested you; it was any food-lover's dream!
I was still quite full from our huge breakfast we had just had a few hours before but I picked at some other people's meal and we all shared a glass of red wine together. It was simply delicious, to say the least.
In the evening, we headed to the U S Cellular Field to watch the Jays take on the Chicago White Sox:
Wish we could say the Jays beat them -- there were a lot of Jays fans in the town that weekend! But if truth be told, they didn't play so well and lost (they haven't been playing too well in general...). But we still had fun at the field. Afterwards, there was a fireworks show:
And then after waiting about an hour and a half in line (it was a busy weekend!), we went up the famous Willis Tower to the 103rd floor on the skydeck:
On the glass deck!: (the glass floor on the CN Tower has nothing on this!)
Later on, we headed into their famous Magnolia Bakery (mmmm!):
And of course, no trip to Chicago is complete without a Second City show (which of course, was pretty spectacular):
They had batting cages and a few arcade games upstairs! Since the weather wasn't so great that day, we spent the rest of our afternoon practicing our batting and competing in some hoops:
Chicago was such a lovely city! We all had such a great time exploring the sites, tasting the food and of course settling down at times for a quick beer or glass of wine.
