Happy chilly Tuesday!
My apologies for the lack of updates! The holidays have been so crazy, busy for me and on top of that, I'm recovering from a cold. Yesterday I spent the whole day on the couch and in bed. Luckily, there was a Harry Potter marathon on TV and plenty of peppermint tea.
And now tomorrow is already New Year's Eve! It's hard to believe 2014 is coming to an end. If I have time tomorrow, I'll write an entry on maybe some attempted resolutions, lol but if not, perhaps later on.
Here are some pictures from the past week!
Our Christmases and Christmas Eves have been very quiet within the last couple of years. It's a bit sad, for when I was a kid, all the cousins got together in the evening and it was always guaranteed a good time. Now it seems everyone is doing things with the other side of their families.
Christmas Eve was always relatively low-key in my family. Maybe we saw some relatives here and there but mostly it consisted of going to an evening mass with the grandparents and calling it a cozy night-in. This year, I went over to Brian's house where we exchanged gifts and then headed over to his Auntie Carol's house for a big fish dinner.
And a ton of dessert as well!
Before we knew it, it was Christmas morning!
Whenever we open presents, the cats always get a great kick out of it. They know something is going on but mostly they just have a good time scooping out the bags, boxes and tissue paper (it probably didn't help that they got cat-nip in their stocking!)
Brian came over for a bit in the afternoon.
And we laughed over Andrea playing Crash Bandicoot.
Then it was time for Christmas Day dinner!
The evening was mostly quiet from there on end. After some coffee and spending some time with my Nonna, I went back over to Brian's for a little bit to see his family and Aunt Teresa. She made some of her tasty homemade Christmas cookies, I enjoyed another coffee and just for fun, took a "Christmas shot" of whiskey with Brian's dad, Joe lol.
On Boxing Day, we headed over to our Auntie Day's house for a little get-together / my aunt's birthday.
Little cousin Brittany also made an appearance :) The last time I saw her was probably the Civic Long Weekend in August. She's gotten so big since then!
Auntie Day lives in a lovely little town house. On her upstairs platform, one area looks like a small apartment. Of course, I could only wish it was mine -- it was so cozy and inviting-looking!
The next day was Shawn's 23rd birthday, Brian's younger brother. That meant, we all headed to the Mandarin for a birthday brunch!
The birthday boy himself!
And with cousin Frankie!
Of course we had to sing Happy Birthday to him (as requested by Frankie).
And then somehow, headed back to their house for more cake...
Don't know how on earth we ever managed that!
Brian and I took a nice little walk downtown the next day. We were by U of T and it was eerie to see how quiet it was with everyone on Christmas vacation.
Oh, and we also stopped at Swiss Chalet for their yummy holiday special!
Today since I finally felt a bit better, I was starting to empty out some things from my closet and will eventually get to my desk drawers. During the holidays and particularly after the new year, I always enjoy going through my old stuff from throughout the year, clearing it out and making space to create a fresh new start for the new year. It's all about out with the old and in with the new! I can never do it in one shot though, it's something that's a working progress. But even with the little of work I've done, you can already see the difference in my room! Pictures to come soon!
I will write one last entry tomorrow for 2014, even if it's just a quick one! Wishing you all lovely, relaxing evenings :)
