Happy Friday everyone! And happy long weekend to my fellow Canadians! (Monday is a holiday here).
Last Saturday, I went to my first ever Leafs game (Is that shameful of me?). Lol, I've been to plenty of Blue Jays games (which I love), a Raports game, even an Argonauts football game -- but I had never been to an official Leafs game before, until last weekend. Brian got tickets for our 3-year anniversary and last weekend seemed a perfect time to go since he had the night off from work.
Only thing is, they were on an 11-game losing streak -- so we were hoping "we'd" bring them some luck ;) They were facing the Edmonton Oilers.
Brian lent me his Mats Sundin jersey while he rocked his blue Doug Gilmour one.
That evening also happened to be Canadian Armed Forces Appreciation Night, which was awesome. If you looked around the arena, you'd see various men and women dressed in their uniforms, including one guy a couple of rows ahead of us. There was a very sweet moment when the guy sitting in front of him bought him a hot dog and beer and chatted for a bit before returning their attention to the game. Brain wrote a lovely article about it on his blog which you can check out here.
Then the game started!
And wouldn't you know it -- they won! It looked like a clean sweep of 5-0: but not right before Edmonton scored a goal within TWO SECONDS to spare in the third. Haha, oh well. At least they won in the end!
I hope everyone has a super weekend and a Happy Valentine's Day! <3 As usual: stay warm!! :)
