Happy Friday! :D I seem to be in a bit of a "writing shlump" these days with the dull, long winter tundra. In fact, it gave me the idea to write a post on "How To Beat the Winter Blues" but when it actually came down to writing out a draft - I swapped the idea for Pizza Hut and a little O.C. marathon with my sister.
So, hey - that's one way to beat the winter blues! When all else fails, order some comfort food, take a place on your nice, cozy couch, and catch a marathon of your favourite show. When I watch the O.C., I can forget for a minute that I'm living in the Arctic and imagine myself in sunny California instead.
Another great way - book a trip somewhere warm! This weekend, Brian's family are headed to Bahamas for a few days (I couldn't be more jealous) but in a few short weeks - my mom and I are headed to Cuba!
My excitement cannot be expressed! It's been almost four years since I took a vacation purely for the form of relaxation and warmth; we took a family trip to Florida in spring 2011 and the whole time, I felt like I was in a dream (or that I had briefly entered the O.C.!). I wrote up an entry on it here.
A nice, relaxing vacation - and somewhere warm away from this cold! - is definitely overdue in my books. And a nice little get-away to Cuba seems the perfect way to go!
Even the cats have had enough of winter. They can't go outside like they normally would and are growing pretty restless being inside all the time.
My dad tried to make a little "green house" for them in the kitchen to remind them that one of these days, spring will be back!
I plan on buying myself some fresh flowers to keep in my room as well. Keeping some beautiful flowers and plants by the window is a great way to get you excited for some warmer weather!
I am super excited that the starting of March is next week. March reminds me of the coming of spring, St. Patrick's Day and of course, a little break.
I've started looking up some fun recipes I can possibly make for St. Pat's and have been finding some really neat drinks and desserts on allrecipes.com. I definitely recommend checking this site out for some great recipes.
How do you beat the winter blues? Hope everyone has a lovely weekend!
