I'm a few days late but Happy March, guys!! Even though the weather is still kinda frightful, just knowing it's officially a new month geared towards spring and St. Patrick's Day makes me super excited. In fact, I ended up downloading a beautiful watercolour background for the month of March for my phone. It was made by Lucy at Craftberry Bush. She does such lovely watercolour paintings and I couldn't resist this one when I saw it!
Without further ado, here are some updates from my weekend!
Yummy Friday Night
On Friday night, I caught dinner with a friend at a delicious Thai place called the Green Mango.
It was my second time here and this place does not disappoint! I highly recommend it, especially the chicken mango - it was delicious! :D
Saturday felt like the first "warm winter" day we've had yet! There was very little wind and the sun was shining all day. The cats could finally take some advantage and spent some time outside.
It took us awhile before we could get out of there! After hitting a few more stores, we were spent. A quick McDonald's run later and we suddenly felt much better and refuelled.
In the evening, I got together with a couple of friends to celebrate our friend, Kristy's birthday. She picked an awesome pub to go to called Stones Place: a bar dedicated to the Rolling Stones. As a classic rock lover, this place was a dream! (I was lucky enough to see a Stones concert two years ago with my sister. We had a great time and Mick Jagger certainly still did have the moves!)
Stones Place is a buzzy, slightly more upscale lounge-bar that's covered in photographs of the band and has a dance floor where they play fun oldies music. It reminded me of a higher-class Clinton's night. (Clinton's is an awesome little bar that is known for its themed-nights: 90s night, Shake, Rattle & Roll - even Beatlemania night! It's one of our favourite bars).
We all had a great time and Kristy was super excited that we were able to make it out for her birthday - just look how "happy" she was to see Julius:
It had been awhile since we all had a fun night of good drinks and music!
On Sunday, I totally lived it up: I spent the whole day lounging around in my room and watched the OC - my all-time favourite show! Sometimes I don't like to stay cooped up and lounging around all day, but after the fairly busy weekend, I thought it was well deserved.
This guy certainly kept me some company too:
Harry Potter Monday
Last night after work, I headed to the Beaver Cafe with Natalie and Libby for a Harry Potter trivia night! For just a toonie, you and your friends team up to answer the most correct questions - including, the "impossible" ones and identifying quotes. There were about 20 teams and we came in 6th place overall - not too shabby! Some of the questions were incredibly difficult but we surprised ourselves at times and even managed to get 4 out of the 5 impossible questions! (which meant a $25 certificate to use at the Beaver Cafe). Plus, I thought we had a rather cool team name: the Felix Feliciholics.
We certainly had a great time and it really made me wanna go back and read the books all over again.
Random Side Note
Remember how for Valentine's Day, I tried to make Brian a homemade mailbox because I couldn't find one anywhere? Well, the other day, my co-worker sent me a photo of this:
I couldn't believe it - an actual Valentine's Day mailbox, including the flag and everything! She said they were on sale at Fortinos when the holiday was over. Figures! In a way though, I think making something is more meaningful...but I gotta say, I do love the look of this one! Maybe next year??
Is it really only Tuesday? Hah, I think another cup of coffee is in order... :) Who else is excited for Spring?!
