Prepping for St. Pat's!

I've always loved St. Patrick's Day! I love the green, the shamrocks, the leprechauns, the rainbow (and the pot of gold at the end of it!), the music, the food, and green beer. And I'm not even Irish! But what's not to love about it? It's a fun spring holiday to get you out of the winter slump and out on the town for a good time. This weekend, we finally got around to putting up our decoration. (Can you guess which dollar store it's all from?)

I kept my room decor fairly simple this year (you should have seen other years!)

I love the burst of green on my table among all the whites! It really stands out.

I bought the St. Patrick's Day ceramic mug a couple of years ago and it's among a favourite of mine. Every morning on March 17th, I pour myself a cup of coffee with a dash of Bailey's Irish Cream!

I have plenty of green nailpolish to get me ready for the occasion! This year, I plan on doing a dark green with gold tips.

There are really only two movies we have that make me think of St. Paddy's - P.S. I Love You (which I love!) and Leap Year. I wasn't too crazy about the movie Leap Year but the breathtaking views of Ireland and Irish culture can't not make you think of St. Patrick's Day (Can you think of any other 'Irish' movies? Let me know!)

We kept our living room quite simple, but festive as well!

Love the polished garland and wreaths.

I ordered this candle, Lucky Shamrock, from Yankee Candles last year and it smells beautiful! Just like a large field of shamrocks ...or freshly cut grass (one of Brian's favourite scents).

My mom even hung a shamrock in our basement entry.

And our front doors! With a slightly crooked shamrock...

This is probably my favourite piece of St. Pat's decor we have!

I only wish we had more "figurines", like some leprechauns or ceramic shamrocks. I'll keep my eyes open in the stores. If you know of anywhere that might sell something like these, give me a shout in the comments!

I'll be off to the grocery store soon to buy some ingredients for a St. Patrick's Day recipe. I hope next week is sunny and a fairly nice out for the big day!
