I'm back from beautiful Cuba!! You'd think after having a relaxing vacation in some marvellous weather would have me feeling refreshed and ready to go back to work today. But sometimes I find, you need a vacation after the vacation! After the travels yesterday and even just from the sun, I was completely wiped out coming home. I haven't even unpacked most of my stuff yet. So today, I will get around to that, catch up on some emails and possibly get down to a workout.
My mom and I had a wonderful trip at Varadero, Cuba. We stayed in a lovely resort called Hotel Roc Barlovento which had very nice staff, delightful pools, and a stunning beach. Here are some photos!:
Sun, pool, beach, and palm trees make for a happy me!
The hotel had two pools: the main one and a smaller one on the other side. We stayed mostly at the smaller one since it was usually less busy, quieter, and we even liked the overall look of the area much better.
The beach was breathtaking, to say the least!
I had so much fun crashing and thrashing about in the waves like I was five years old again!
We went for walks and did some shopping in the near by town.
Horse and chariots are very popular there so we knew we had to take at least one ride.
I couldn't get enough of palm trees! (As you can probably tell, I even changed my blog background to them!)
We had many popular "island-type" drinks such as piña coladas, margaritas, strawberry daiquiris, Cuba's famous Crystal beer and a fun drink called 'Bahama Mama.'
We even splurged for a piña colada drink inside a pineapple!
Every morning, we had a tasty coffee or cappuccino at the coffee bar by this guy:
We spent a day with a tour guide and group at old Havana City.
You wouldn't believe the number of stray cats Cuba has! There were a bunch hanging around the hotel that were all super friendly. Apparently, they eat the lizards there and any left over the meats the staff gives them. We were happy to see the hotel accommodated them too.
And before we knew it, was time for home.
We had such a lovely, relaxing week - and now we're home again to the cold and grey. But I am looking forward to catching up with some friends, Easter coming up this weekend, and the first signs of Spring (which are still yet to come!)
