The first day of Summer is officially this Sunday and I can hardly wait! Those long hot, sunny days, going out for ice cream, and evenings where it's still warm and light out; what's not to love! It got me thinking about all the things I'm looking forward to this year - and here's 5!:
1) Canada's Wonderland
I love getting out to Canada's Wonderland at least once every Summer. I've been doing this for years and there's just something very nostalgic and youthful about it. I love the rides, the atmosphere, and going with a great group of people who make the whole day worth it. It's funny because I'm terrified of heights - but I love rollar coasters! My favourite coaster is the Behemoth.
2) The Toronto Islands
The Toronto Islands are simply breathtaking and a picture-perfect way to spend a day out in the city. You take the ferry boat across and can walk among the beautiful isle on the other side and even visit Centreville, a lovely children's amusement park right on the island. I have so many happy memories there, going for the day with our neighbours; I never wanted to come home!
3) The Cottage
Summer will never feel like Summer to me unless I make it out to the cottage at least once, even for a weekend. Ever since I was a kid, my parents used to book and rent a cottage for us kids and our cousins, and we always had the time of our lives. We were always perfectly content with the lake, a big open space to run around or play volleyball at, and at night after roasting some marshmallows around the campfire, we'd huddle around with snacks and watch a movie. Pure Summer bliss.
4) Brian's Pool
I've always loved and been an active swimmer, and I'm so happy that Brian's house has a beautiful pool where I can do just that. I love sitting out on his deck with some lemonade, finger foods and going for a dip by playing some water basketball or ping-pong like we did last Summer with the barbecue going. Once he opens his pool very soon, I'll be over with my swim stuff in a heart beat!
5) Summer Reading List
What is it about having a Summer reading list? You seem to have more time and energy, and the option to sit outside is just so tempting! One of my favourite Summer-evening pass times is sitting outside with a coffee or green tea, and a good book.
And there you have it! What are you looking forward to this Summer?
