Happy Friday everyone! The sun is shining, the air is warm, and it's officially the start of Summer. Who else has been feeling the Summer-excitement? Here are this week's Happy Friday!
The Junction Street Festival
Last weekend, I headed over to a friend's place for a little barbecue, drinks, and ended up visiting the street festival nearby that was taking place.
I loved this little barbecue! We had very tasty burgers. Compliments to the chef!
My favourite glass of sparkling white wine, Friexenet. It really does taste like a yummy soda.
Later at night, we headed out to the street festival, or the Junction as it was better known. My one friend described it all as being very "quintessential!"
Look at this crazy art work! All done with plastic.
Father's Day: A Beautiful Afternoon at Mimico, Artisano's & the MMVAs
Sunday for Father's Day was absolutely beautiful. During the day, my dad was perfectly content relaxing in his basement watching the baseball game before dinner. So for a few hours that afternoon, my friend (Somya) suggested we take advantage of the nice day and head out to the lakeshore near downtown Toronto.
This little neighbourhood is known as Mimico, located right by Lake Ontario.
All the Canadian geese!
The cruising club with all the boats and the lighthouse totally gave me an authentic, summer-feel.
A lovely bridge, reminding me of a smaller version of our Ontario Bridge.
Beautiful bike and walking paths. I'd love to come back here one day with my bike!
Faux birds, which really startled the living daylights out of me when I first laid eyes on them!
It's hard to tell from this photo, but this was Toronto's beautiful skyline. I can only imagine how enchanting it must look from across the lake at night.
So much green among the sunlight! Looks a bit like a swamp.
I wish flowers like these would last forever!
Little trickling fountain.
Beautiful homes right by the harbour. I can't even imagine what it must be like living so close to the lake!
Later the evening, my family and I headed out to our traditional, Artisano's restaurant for a yummy Father's Day meal.
My dad and I in Italy a few years ago; up in the mountains!
Nonna and Pops enjoying a lovely dinner.
I wanted to try something different so along with my sandwich and salad, I also ordered a broccoli cheddar soup. It was absolutely amazing! I'd love the recipe for it one day to make myself at home.
That night, the Much Music Video Awards (aka the MMVAs) were being broadcast in downtown Toronto. My sister and I were particularly excited because not only would Ed Sheeran be there, but he was co-hosting as well (And he did a mighty good job, might we add).
Doesn't he resemble a bit of a ginger hobbit?
We debated very briefly whether to mission it downtown in the hopes of getting a good glimpse of him - but we knew it would be absolutely chaotic! So we stayed in the comfort of our home. Among other more popular guests were Nick Jonas, Lights and Carly Rae Japsen.
Besides, we're seeing him again when he comes back in September ;)
A Great Summer-Flick: Jurassic World
Yesterday, Brian and I finally got around to seeing Jurassic World and loved it! It really reminded me a lot of the original, which I loved as a kid (Not to mention, Hello, Chris Pratt??) It's definitely a great Summer thriller. Anyone know of any other great flicks to see this Summer?
I hope you all have a lovely weekend!
