I'm back from our road trip to Detroit! A few of us went for the weekend to catch the baseball game and my, what an experience we had ;) Long story short: even though we were only there for two nights, our second night was spent in a different - much nicer hotel room! A suite, to be exact, for all of us to stay in.
(Do you remember The OC, season 1 , where they head down to Mexico and are stuck in a run-down, kind of nasty motel for the night? That was us on our first night!)
We had great weather and the baseball stadium was just a 10 minute walk from our (second!) hotel.
Did I mention it was also their Independence Day??
We made our way to Comerica Park, home of the Detroit Tigers!
It was a beautiful day for a ball game!
Jays vs. Tigers!
Some celebrations for the fourth of July.
And then we saw some Blue Jays players warming up!
While we were walking to the game, we saw these guys putting on chicken suits in front of their hotel.
And wouldn't you know it, they ended up sitting three rows in front of us.
We knew then if they were filmed (which was likely) we might get a spot on TV.
Even the Tigers' mascot wanted a photo with them!
They certainly added some laughs to our section :D
We hadn't even realized how close we were to the bullpen! I'd never been this close before: Jays pitcher RA Dickey warming up.
And catcher Russell Martin Jr.
It was a great day for a ball game - but the Jays were losing. Oh well. With that, Brian and I decided to walk around and scope out the rest of the ball park.
They had such a cute little ferris wheel, in the form of baseballs!
View from the top.
Despite their loss, we still had a great day at the ball game and a weekend-to-remember in Detroit!
