Happy Summer Friday!! I couldn't be more thrilled that it's the end of the week. Even though I had a short week due to my trip last weekend, it's felt like a long one! Next week, I'll continue Part 2 from our Halifax trip! I tried getting as much done as I could the other night and decided to save today's Happy Friday post for something else special.
Today, my Happy Friday post will be a tribute to my dad, who just turned 60 years young yesterday. What a milestone! Tonight, we are going out for some celebrations but last night, we kept things simple and low-key.
Like for my birthday, my hilarious and talented sister wrote a song for our dad's big day that she later posted to his Facebook wall. We all got such a kick out of it, that I had to share it with my own friends, too. Maybe there could be a future in this for her, what do you think?
She's a regular Phoebe Buffay.
Finally, it was present time for our dad!
His first gift was a Bob Marley beach towel he was eyeing at the cottage earlier this year.
He confessed to my mom though that he briefly saw it in a bag in our van before hand. Oops.
Next, he got a CD - Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons (the musical based on the Jersey Boys).
He got a nice, updated Blue Jays tee.
And some eagle shirt he apparently liked.
But his favourite gift of all...
... was none other than a Star Trek Spock cookie jar.
"Live long and prosper!"
Inside the jar were some Blue Jays tickets and concert tickets to see Robert Plant. The real tickets still haven't arrived in the mail yet so I drew up some play ones in the meantime.
Just when we were about to clean up, Cartney wondered over...
... and engaged in one his favourite pass times.
Any time there's bags or tissue paper around...
... he can't help himself.
Like us, he seems to love a good party.
We definitely butt heads from time to time, but I couldn't be more blessed to have him there in my life. Happy Birthday again to our loveable and goofy father! <3
And Happy Weekend to everyone! :D
