Happy Friday!: A Day at the CNE

Happy Friday! It's cloudy and cool here in Ontario today... Fall is on its way! Sometime next week, I'll be giving the blog a bit of a "Fall lift" and changing up my Summer Décor to Autumn Leaves. It'll be nice to change things up a bit.

For today's Happy Friday post, I'll be sharing a day at the CNE from last week!

Last year, we went to the Ex on the Labour Day Monday. It was a lot of fun - but much too busy! So this year, we decided to go on a random week day. It was still busy, but definitely not as bad. We also happened to pick a day that was cloudy and a little cooler.

We were prepared though! And despite those heavy-looking rain clouds, not a drop managed to make its way out that day.

The very first thing we did was grab a quick bite to eat. We went later in the afternoon and I was starving! One of my favourite treats was their warm waffle, ice cream sandwich. As you can see, it made for a happy me!

This thing was done in about 5 minutes.

Those cloudy skies couldn't keep all these happy people away!

We made a quick trip into the farm building, but didn't manage to see any of the animals (if you'd like to see some from last year, click here!)

Like previous years, we made our way to the Pavillion building to scope out all the international jewellery, clothing, and  home furnishings from all over the world.

Except these retro-looking bags. I have no idea where in the world they're from. But I had to snap a picture of them because bluntly, they tripped me out! They looked flat as a drawing, but were 100% 3D and usable.

These beautiful stones definitely reminded me of the gems I saw just a month earlier at the ROM.

My sister was very tempted to buy one of those cute little panda figurines for only a dollar.

We made our way to the warehouse outlets where we came across my favourite section...

... the mega Mix and Match DVD / CD / list-goes-on Liquidation! They have amazing sales here, and I'm always on the lookout for some great steals...

... like this: "The Cozy!" Basically, like the Snuggie Blanket - but in the form of a pint glass. (But no, I didn't end up buying it ;) )

We made a brief stop to the outdoor marketplace section. If I had my own place, I definitely would have picked one of these plants up!

Saw more of those amazing sand sculptures.

And we were just in time for the ice-skating show!

We went to this completely on a whim, and I'm sure glad we did. It was an incredible show!

They had a fantastic light show going on and extremely talented acrobats.

And Canadian 2010 Olympic gold medallists - Tessa and Scott - were one of the many stunning performers.

What an amazing performance by all!

After the show, we were way hungry for some dinner. A quick run to the food building and we gobbled up our food outside only to discover we were seated on a little bench honouring our Blue Jays. I loved it and just had to snap some quick photos.

They have this great game by the food building - Guess Age or Weight. The young lady who was running it that day was very engaging and quite funny with the audience. We were hooked!

So hooked, that one of our friends, Margartia decided to take the plunge. She was a brave soul that day, and had everyone guess her weight.

The "Guesser" guessed wrong - which meant Margarita won! She got to pick out a little plush toy. (Advice for anyone wanting to play next time: you're more likely to win if they try guessing your weight over age, in most cases!)

We continued our walk through the games and rides area.

Margarita's boyfriend, Chris tried putting his gambling skills to good use.

Now that is one of the "Biggest Bears" I've ever seen! Imagine trying to carry that home?

We had some passes for rides, so Andrea and I went on the Sky Ride. It's definitely one of my favourites! You get a great view of the whole CNE and besides the bit of height, it's quite relaxing.

Once done, we found out our friend, Brittany was also solely riding the Sky Ride. A few minutes later, we looked up and spotted her! We started waving like crazy to get her attention.

But she didn't seem to notice us...

We followed her all the way to the other end of the ride, waving and calling her name. But she was completely zoned out and taking no notice of us. Until towards the end, when she started looking our way...

There we go! She finally saw us!

It was starting to get dark quickly, but this meant the lights were going to look awesome for night time!

We went on another one of our favourites, The Polar Express!

It's so incredibly fast! And the person sitting on the outside (in this case, me and Chris) were the lucky ones who got to take the weight from everyone else sitting on the inside. It was worth it though!

Next, we went on the Crazy Mouse.

Margarita managed to catch this candid photo of us for a Snapchat.

My sister and I went on the Blitzer together:

And for one last time, we had to go on the Sky Ride again. With all the lights, it was just too beautiful to miss.

We had such a fun day at the CNE! Until next year.

I hope you all have a great weekend! What will you be up to?
