Happy Thursday, everyone! It's almost Friday: the work week is almost over. I long for that Saturday morning when I wake up and realize that I can SLEEP IN! It's probably one of the best feelings ever.
The Summer Wrap-Up Photos continue! Today I'll be sharing our quick weekend trip to the cottage. My sister found this awesome little cabin through a website called Cottages in Canada. She finally had a weekend off in the last week of August so after some researching and negotiating, she booked it for us and a few friends to enjoy. Despite the grey, cooler weather on the Saturday, we still had a really nice time. It never really feels like summer to me until I can officially escape up north for a bit.
Our cabin looked just like a little apartment inside, with a comfy living room area:
And a little dining and kitchen area.
We arrived there quite late on the Friday night. So what did we do? Why, crack open a few drinks and enjoyed.
This was the only group photo we managed to capture for the weekend. I think it about sums it up though :)
In the mornings, I put on the espresso and took a seat outside with a book. One of my favourite cottage pass times!
We also relaxed and ate lunch on this bench:
A perfect line of colourful Muskoka chairs with a lake view.
On the Saturday night, you can bet we gathered around this fire pit and actually met up with the other neighbours for a fun, social time. One couple we met offered us some yummy s'mores that we heated up over the fire, which of course led to taking some shots (not before I crashed for the night though!)
There's nothing I love more than a lake front up at the cottage.
This bench/chair thing kinda scared me a bit! It was bolted firmly into the dock, but you couldn't help feeling like it was going to tip over at any moment. I got a lot of reading done here, despite my little fears.
We had a lot of space to run around and play some games if we wanted.
Since it was too cold for swimming, why not play ring toss?
Our friend, Mariana was a natural.
Unlike my sister and I.
After a brutal loss, we decided to go some grocery shopping for dinner. Walking to the car, we passed all the other cabins in the area. I was in love with that arch made up of vine leaves. Think I could do that with my future place?
It was the end of August, but I got pretty excited when I saw this Fall display in the floral section of the store.
Wouldn't you know it that by dusk, the skies started to clear up creating this beautiful image.
One of the neighbours we made friends had two really adorable young kids. I couldn't resist capturing this candid moment when I saw it.
A little soccer before dinner time to build up an appetite.
And wouldn't you know it - the day we had to pack up and leave was warm and sunny.
There were a lotta these chipmunks around on our last day, so I took a giant bag of peanuts we had and scattered them all over the place for them to enjoy. You can imagine, it was a bit of a field day for them!
While packing up and cooking some eggs and bacon for breakfast, we had some "live entertainment" from my sister who loves to sing in the shower:
Marina joined in for a bit too:
Once all packed and headed to the car, I spotted my first official signs of Fall on this tree. I gotta say, I had very mixed feeling about it!
Driving home, and you can see we were completely surrounded by the beautiful countryside.
And all these rustic road signs pointing out various destinations.
Until next year! :)
