With such busy holidays this year, taking some off from blogging, getting back into a work routine and then exporting everything to a different location, I've definitely been a little behind on my updates! So I thought I'd sum up our holidays with you as best as I can before getting back into my regular updates. Here we go!:
The holidays were a whirlwind right from the moment when I finished my work day that afternoon for a two week break. That same night, Andrea and I headed to a Christmas party hosted by a few of our friends.
The food was fabulous!
And everything was decorated so beautifully.
The next night, we headed to our yearly Secret Santa party at Chris and Libby's place. We've been having these gift exchanges every year for the past couple of years and love carrying on the tradition.
I absolutely loved the way they decorated and coordinated everything for the ultimate Christmas theme.
This fabulous Home Alone print is done by an artist named Madison Gregory. If you check out his site, you can see he's done so many awesome movie scenes and stills from a lot of great classics.
Like this other scene from Home Alone Chris put up for the occasion!
He also framed some holiday photos, like of him and Libby buying a Christmas tree and that time Brian dressed up as Santa Claus for Halloween one year.
Over their mantel...
... they framed the photo of us from last year!
And this was this year's Secret Santa gang (I just noticed we're all very much positioned in the same spots from last year!):
I ended up being Chris' Secret Santa this year, and I had to share the hilarious and creative card he made. It was like a little booklet that had me cracking up:
Once midnight hit, it was officially Brian's birthday. To his thrill, a small cake was presented to him as we sang Happy Birthday.
He looked just as thrilled the next day when his mom treated us all to lunch and a special birthday piece for him.
Finally, it was Christmas morning!
I was cozy in my pajamas and treated myself to a hot coffee with some marshmallows and a dash of cinnamon in my new Santa mug. Topped with a candy cane ;)
Our grandma had stayed over the night before. We all huddled under the tree to open gifts!
It's always a more funny experience in our house than anything.
And every year, Cartney gets into it. His favourite thing is bag-sitting.
Brian came by later that afternoon and we all took a picture by the tree in our Blue Jays Christmas sweaters.
Then it was off to Nonna's for Christmas dinner! I didn't manage to get an actual picture of the food (I was so hungry, I gobbled everything up so quickly!)
Watched Home Alone 2 on TV for the 100th time that season.
After a little Christmas nap and some coffee to wake us up, we went over to Brian's house. Their living room looked so cozy!
And I loved this sign on their front door. Who needs a wreath or a traditional song quote when you've got this:
We headed down to their cozy basement afterwards for some wine and snacks.
Brian's family has this thing with darts...
A few days after Christmas, we celebrated our friend Daniel's birthday (so many birthdays!)
We headed over to our friend's place who generously hosted the event. There was so much food out and the sangria was superb.
They also made this hilarious frame just out of cardboard to represent an Instagram photo. We had fun dressing up a little and literally, taking photos inside the photo-frame!
And then wouldn't you know it: it was New Year's Eve!
With all the craziness from Christmas, Brian and I were perfectly happy having a relaxing night at our friend's place just down the street. We didn't take a lot of photos that night, but had fun playing board games, having some drinks and yummy finger foods. It was the perfect end to 2015 and start to 2016.
We had a great Christmas break this year and as sad as I was for them to come to an end, I'm kind of loving just taking it easy now and relaxing more on the weekends.
Hope you're enjoying a cozy Saturday!
