One of the many things we've come to love about the Lake Shore house is inviting our friends over and hosting get-togethers.
I've always loved hosting parties at home when my parents have gone away for the weekend. There's nothing I get more pride out of then cleaning up the house and putting out some drinks and snacks for our guests. It's what makes a home so warm and inviting, and I love that feeling! Our friends are always generously inviting us over to their places and for the time-being, Brian and I can contribute back.
The other weekend, our friend Somya came by for a drink and we trucked it out to Clintons after for Beatlemania night!
Another time, a few of our friends came by and we had a board game night:
This past weekend, my sister finally saw the house for the first time. We spent a nice, laid back evening with our friends, Ross and Julius. (I just noticed it looks like Julius is taking a little snooze in this picture! - guess the night wasn't too fun for him?)
Ross came by again the next day and this time we prepared a "small" appetizer afternoon for the rest of our friends. Brian took pride in the kitchen again, and did a wonderful job whipping up the treats.
We served some cut-up marble cheese and kielbasa.
Tortilla chips with a cool multi-dip dish from the grocery store!
The shrimp came along next. In fact, every few minutes it seemed the table grew with more food.
Next was the quiche and boneless buffalo chicken (very yummy!)
And quinoa salad (one of my faves!)...
...followed by soft and chunky chocolate chip, double chocolate, and white macaroon cookies. Our one friend had the awesome idea to heat them up in the oven for a bit before serving (I highly recommend this!) We quickly stuffed our faces until we couldn't any more.
And even when we couldn't...
...we still did! ;)
With stomachs stuffed, it was the perfect time to go out for a walk. Everyone had been wanting to scope out the area so Brian and I took everyone out on our regular route.
Some of the houses with a lake shore view are stunning. This one looked like it belonged in the O.C. more than Canada!
It got pretty cold in the evening, so we made the best of what we could! We all "struggled" slightly with chilly fingers as we tried snapping some beautiful photos.
I had never been down to the lake with a beautiful pink sky in the background so this was definitely a treat to see!
We love that we're able to invite our friends over to the Lake Shore house and get to spend some nice, quality time with them. And it seems they really like the house back, too!
