Growing up, my mom always took pride in putting up some decorations for just about any occasion, and Valentine's Day is certainly no exception! Even when I was single and wishing I had a fun date to celebrate the special day, I still always found some enjoyment in putting up some red hearts, pink garland and spoiling myself with some chocolates. As always, my mom decorated up the fireplace simply, but lovely too for Valentine's Day:
The Beanie Baby, Valentina took a place in the center among the snowman and winter-themed candles.
A red candle (smelling like berries!) for a pop of colour.
We still have some deep red hearts hanging on our front doors.
They make for a welcoming visit!
Of course, I always have to add a bit of "festivities" to my bedroom.
I kept things slightly more simple this year.
I displayed two "love-themed" books for show: Karen's In Love (I love the old Baby-Sitters Little Sister series!) and P.S. I Love You.
A cute, happy-heart piggy bank.
An old Valentine's Day YM Magazine to show!
Some sweet-smelling themed candles.
And of course, a faux bunch of pink roses from the dollar store.
With some added hearts.
For my bulletin board, I bought a heart-linked garland made out of felt.
And added a little love-bug plush to sit under my TV.
My bedroom door features a plush white bear as Cupid next to a heart.
I like the idea of keeping something "soft" against the door so it's not constantly banging around making noise.
I even started decorating the Lake Shore House a bit! For now, I just added two streamers to the side of the orca picture.
A decorative paper-weight to the coffee table.
And taped Cupid to the front door.
I plan to add a few more things next weekend for the special day!
Stay caffeinted, everyone :)
