Brian certainly played the part of ultimate coziness-in well (My pink scarf goes well with his complexion, don't ya think?)
I even went as far as bringing my favourite heart-themed mug from home for some morning coffee!
We also had some left over red lights from Christmas time that were perfect. We draped them around the TV for a nice, glowy effect.
During the day on February 14th, the sun was blazing and it looked beautiful outside - but it was freezing cold! We picked up a late lunch (Taco Bell!), came back to the house and watched the movie Fever Pitch, one of our favourite romantic comedies.
The room felt extra snug with some lit scented candles among a fresh vase of flowers and our cards to each other.
These beautiful pink orchids really created a homey and spring-like atmosphere (unlike the outdoors!)
I lit a tea candle for this lovely heart-patterned candle tin.
And we lit "Cranberry Woods" from Bath and Body Works: a perfect blend of sweet and smooth berries.
To make Brian's card, I found a cute cartoon of two bumblebees from Google that I drew for the front:
And in the inside, I drew a classic Charlie Brown and Snoopy.
I glued both pictures to some red construction paper and sprinkled on some glitter.
While also including some scratch-and-smell Valentine stickers.
Back at the house, we had plenty of chocolates to go around ;)
I'd heard of Hershey's Kisses before but never Hershey's Hugs. Apparently they consisted more of milk chocolate and vanilla flavours. Yum!
And we shared some left-over tortilla chips over dip.
This year, I also made some simple chocolate dipped strawberries.
They made for a tasty midnight treat later on!
Like last year, I also baked some heart-shaped cookies.
I baked one batch of Pilsbury cookies and another batch of Reese's Pieces cookie mix.
As the evening slowly started to approach, I remember walking by our bedroom and seeing this beautiful view of the setting sun.
I had placed the orchids in the window so they could get some light. It all felt rather peaceful and pure bliss.
As it grew darker outside, more it seemed like the living room glowed with warmth.
Eventually, we switched over to some LED candles to give the scents a bit of a break.
I found these small heart LEDs from the local dollar store.
Normally Brian takes pride in cooking at the Shore house but we decided to take a break from that this weekend. We ordered some Swiss Chalet, cracked open a bottle of wine and watched two movies: Love, Actually and Crazy, Stupid Love; we loved both!
Even back at our house, my parents threw in a few extra treats for us (a chocolate bar with a cat on it? They know us too well :) ).
I'm a firm believer that Valentine's Day should be about showing love to everyone, so I also picked up a few treats for my family.
I thought this cute little bucket was the perfect way to display everything.
Drinks, take-out food, and good movies. What better way to spend a long weekend?
How did you spend your long weekend? Did anyone watch the Grammys at all? I hope everyone's staying warm today and having a nice start to their week!
