My 4/20, 28th birthday was just like any other night during the week - except it included a few small gifts, a cake and a glass of wine with my family. With the recent starting of a new, very hectic work position, I wanted nothing more than to just take it easy! I posted this old photograph on my Instagram on the morning of April 20th. Back in 1992! And I commented on how my haircut is more or less, still the exact same today! Some things never change :)
When my family kept asking me what I wanted this year, I honestly just gave them a blank stare. I couldn't think of anything that I really needed or wouldn't have eventually gotten on my own. So it always surprises me when I come home from work and see a scene like this one:
With my sister's help, my dad gave me this awesome new book by Lauren Conrad, Celebrate. The photographs in this book are absolutely stunning and it comes with some great tips for throwing parties of any occasion! Definitely a great keepsake and coffee-table read.
I'd also been eyeing this new book from Kate Hudson, Pretty Happy: Healthy Ways to Love Your Body. My sister knows me too well! I've started reading a bit of it and am loving it so far.
Along with some of my favourite gift cards and tickets to two separate Blue Jays games, I am always so perfectly content with my favourite bottle of Freixenet white sparkling wine.
Tonight, I'm celebrating with friends, and you can bet a few glasses of this good stuff will come in handy!
My mom always insists on a small cake for the family every year, accompanied by some coffee and one glass of wine. If anybody had been watching my Snapchats, it was easy to see that this cake was pretty amazing!
I'm actually so excited to celebrate tonight with all my friends! Truth be told, I haven't felt this excited about my birthday in awhile. I think I just feel very content with all my friendships lately and am so thankful for everyone in my life who helped make the day that much more special. A birthday text here and a phone call here: it all really makes you feel loved and appreciated! So thank you to everyone who helped make the day amazing! :)
