Pa was a wonderful grandfather to us and loved his grandchildren dearly. He always swung by the house for a cup of coffee and loved to tell stories of his trips down to Mexico while we laughed over some I Love Lucy episodes together. He had the most infectious laugh!
As we are gathering some pictures together for the slideshow at the viewing, some of the pictures made me chuckle and others surprised me - like this one below: a very old passport photo!
The picture below has always sat in our living room - my grandfather with his children on Christmas. My mom is in his lap with my aunt and uncle at his side.
Dancing with my grandma at my parent's wedding.
Escorting my mom off!
One of his many travels. I bet that's where my sister gets her travel bug from!
Me being a jerk on Christmas:
One of the better "recent" ones of us (it was almost 10 years ago, but hardly feels that way!) Despite his teeth starting to go, I love how happy he looks in this picture. This is the grandfather that I will always remember.
It is never easy to say goodbye to a loved one. But I take comfort in knowing that he is finally at peace. I'll be taking a few extra days off from the blog to spend with the family. Thank you all!
