With my sister recently graduating a few weeks ago and the end of another school year coming to an end, I couldn't help but realize - this year marks the 10 year anniversary since my own high school graduation.
Where has the time gone?!
I'm one for usually remembering sentimental moments. But to be perfectly honest - I don't remember a whole lot of my graduation night! And I promise, I was no glasses of wine in or anything like that.
I remember it being held in the same building where we had our prom a few weeks prior. I remember having my family coming along to support to me. And I remember taking some photos that night.
My parents took some of these ones from the audience.
Receiving my high school diploma with our then-principal (ironically, he's neighbours with Brian!)
I even remember the earrings I wore that night! (I loved them, but they were a cheap costume-type jewellery that eventually needed to be thrown out).
Maybe I don't remember a lot of the night because it made me too sad to think about. As exciting as it was to be moving on to new things, I was also hugely upset and scared for leaving friends behind and venturing off into the unknown future.
It was a big adjustment, one that actually took some time before I finally settled into university and "downtown" life. I didn't know anybody, I was a single gal, and I barely gave a thought to what I'd be majoring in. In fact, I almost dropped out in my first year!
In the end, it was worth it and everything worked out for the best. Looking back on these photos, and it's so interesting to see where I've gotten to today. In light of Finding Dory coming out, the saying, "Just keep swimming" really rings true!
Two different grad photos! One was for photo re-takes -- and didn't even make it into the yearbook.
To anyone who's graduating this year, I wish you the happiest of graduations!! :)
