It's always tough coming back to a work week after you've been off for a few days enjoying the long weekend. And boy, am I still adjusting! We had beautiful weather, lots of yummy food, and the perfect balance of relaxation time. How was your Thanksgiving weekend?
We didn't just celebrate Thanksgiving this weekend. Thursday was my mom's birthday so we just had a small cake and some coffee back at our place.
On the Saturday, our Aunt Mary had organized two birthday celebrations in the family: an 80th for my mom's Uncle Gino and a 90th birthday for their Grandma Angelina. They rented a room out in a nice little hall and it was an afternoon of some good food, drinks and catching up with the cousins. Unfortunately, I didn't take a whole lotta pictures (I was having a contact lens mishap throughout the day!) so I only managed to get one of the fall-themed arrangement at the front.
I loved the fall colours! We even got to take the floral centrepiece and some mini pumpkin squashes that we ended up adding to the front porch.
For my mom's birthday, we got her tickets to the current Cirque Du Soleil show going on in town. She'd been giving tickets as gifts to some friends and relatives, and after hearing rave reviews she'd requested some for her birthday. My sister and I came along with her and mark our words: it was one amazing show. It's absolutely unbelievable what these acrobats can do for our entertainment. It's almost too cringe-worthy for me to watch! If they're ever in a town near you, I highly recommend checking them out; you will not be disappointed!
Sunday was also our parents' anniversary, and my sister and I nearly died when we both read our parent's cards to each other:
They both accidentally bought each other birthday cards, crossed them out, and changed it to 'anniversary.' Classic! (and how meant to be??) I also splurged for a nice anniversary card for the two of them.
After watching a nail-biting baseball game of the Blue Jays sweeping out the Texas Rangers, Thanksgiving Day was greeted with lots of sunshine, crisp weather and a semi-food coma. Brian and I took advantage of the weather and went for a long walk in the afternoon before settling down for dinner with our families in the evening.
Boy, did I pick an ideal weekend to start cutting back on meat ;)
After lots of food, family, baseball games and a circus show, relaxing just before bed with these two was the perfect end to the weekend.
TG it's almost Friday! :) What will you be up to this weekend?
