Merry Christmas and Happy Boxing Day! I hope everyone had a nice Christmas Day, packed with lots of yummy food, good company, and the occasional glass of wine. I think I'm still recovering from all the food yesterday! These days, Christmas at our place is very laid back - we take our time opening gifts in the later morning, hang out during the day having some wine, snacks, and maybe playing with our latest gift-gadget, and my Nonna will come over in the evening for some dinner, coffee and dessert while watching a Christmas movie. I miss seeing our cousins during the day, but we usually do catch up with them at some point either before or after all the holiday mayhem. Here's a quick roundup on our Christmas Day yesterday!:
On Christmas morning, we woke up to some mild sunshine, a fresh pot of coffee, and my dad was making some bacon - and a veggie omlet for myself!
Brian's parents gave me a beautiful new Christmas mug this year. I like to add some cinnamon and a few mini marshmallows in my cup every year.
Then we opened our stockings. My sister and I cracked up when we found a giftcard for the liquor store, signed "Drunken Santa" from our dad.
The cats got a few extra toys in their stocking too, which seemed to put them in the Christmas spirit.
Then we went to the tree and opened our gifts!
And Cartney came and took his place among the tissue paper and boxes. It's his favourite part of Christmas every year.
Brian came over later on, accompanied by a very yummy dish of different cheese types and crackers. We cracked open a bottle of wine (or several...) as we enjoyed the afternoon.
My sister and I have too much fun with the Snapchat filters and experimentng them with our Nonna.
My dad's new favourite toy was an automatic salt and pepper grinder he got. All day, he was "demonstrating" to us how it worked and continuously asked us throughout dinner, "Do you need salt? How 'bout some pepper?" (He's recently retired, so we suspect he's completely living it up and enjoying every ounce of life these days).
At some point, I went for a Christmas nap. All the excitement and wine...it does you in!
I love Christmas and the lead-up to it, but I also really appreciate the aftermath of it, too. Afterwards, we can relax by the glow of the Christmas tree and sort through our gifts while easing into the new year.
How was your Christmas?? What did you do, and what kinda gifts did you receive?
P.S. After a little break and a new fresh start, I'm back on Instagram! Be sure to follow me here.
