Happy Friday! It's 30+ degree weather here in the GTA so I am currently hiding away indoors where the air is cool and there's lots of refrigerated drinks. In fact, I've got the fan just breezing away in my bedroom and am nestled under some light covers; that's one way to beat the heat.
I hope you all have been enjoying the new blog layout - I certainly am! Like I mentioned, it'll take some time before all the broken links are fixed. With some time off coming up, I'm hoping this will give me a chance to do just that, as well as get into a blogging routine before things get busy again in the fall. :)
A Tea-Party Bridal Shower
Over the weekend, a few girlfriends and I attended a bridal shower for our friend Natalie, who is getting hitched this fall! The shower actually took place on the top floor of a rented room in Natalie's grandmother's condo, which I thought was great. Rather than looking like a typical "party room," the space actually resembled something like a grand suite complete with comfy couches and chairs, a bar area and even a small kitchen in the back.
The theme was Tea Party, so there was lots of little and delectable finger foods, fresh lemonade and of course - tea!
Pictures of the bride-to-be:
And a hilarious cut-out of Daniel Radcliffe among the tea cups (Natalie is a huge Harry Potter fan!)
Some of the games included this one: it was a garland of 10 different photos of Natalie and her fiancé, Stephen, and we had to guess the ages of them in each photo! Fun, but so challenging!
This game was absolutely hilarious to watch: you had to successfully put on a pair of panty-hose -- while wearing oven mitts! Natalie actually won in the end!
"How Well Do You Know the Bride." I actually did much better on this than I thought!
Natalie even had a solo game, where she had to guess answers to questions that Stephen was asked before hand. It was a real test to see how well the soon-to-be bride and groom knew each other. Any time she got an answer wrong (which really wasn't too often) she had to chew a giant piece of gum ball in front of us all! I swear after awhile, I could feel my own sympathy pains for her!
Then it was time for cake! Stephen's sister made this absolutely beautiful ombre-coloured cake for the occasion.
Afterwards, it was present time.
Then a little photo-shoot with Natalie and her bridesmaids!
As a little token, we got to take home one of these adorable jars of homemade jam.
My mom already snuck some in and said it was delicious. I better get on this before my whole family finishes it off!
Heat Wave in the City
This upcoming weekend is launching yet again, another heat wave warning in the city! If I'm not huddling up indoors and staying cool by the air conditioner, then I'll be outside under some shade or better yet - Brian's pool.
Fans on the Run
Last night, my sister, my dad, Brian and I myself drove up to Hamilton, Ontario to see Paul McCartney in concert! It didn't feel that long ago when Andrea and I saw him just this past fall in Toronto, so were pleasantly surprised when we found out he'd be returning to Canada shortly afterwards!
Andrea and I have been lucky enough to see him twice already, and this time we wanted to bring along our dad and Brian. We just knew they'd love the experience and enjoy the show as much as we do. Plus, it's always more fun with more people - and we needed the ride to Hamilton. Thanks, Dad!
We were super excited once we arrived there only, we'd never seen a line-up so big! Apparently, the venue only had one entrance for all these people. For awhile, we were so worried we were going to miss the opening bit (thankfully, that never happened!)
We took our seats and anticipated until the man himself arrived.
And just like that - there he was!
I'm sure you can guess how the rest went - it was an absolutely stellar show!
Check out Brian's Instagram for a cool quick vid of 'Live and Let Die'!
* Cue the obsession fan girl all over again * We are so lucky to have been given the chance to see this legendary man perform in a city near us once again!
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend! If you're in the Ontario region -- do stay cool this weekend as best as you can!!
