Happy Sunday! I'm feeling particularly sluggish this grey morning (to be fair, I haven't finished my coffee yet) but it is Sunday morning: I'm taking it easy. Life has been a little up and down lately, and sometimes it feels like I haven't had much of a chance to catch up on things, like blogging, reading, or even just sitting around and watching some TV. But I'm not complaining too much; keeping busy has proven to be good during this time and day by day, I get more excited for things like Spring and even St. Patrick's Day (I hype the day up so much, watch it be a disappointment!) Here's a little dose of what's been going on these past couple of weeks.
Just last week I was going on about how beautiful the weather's been lately. I take it back! This week, we've been back to freezing temperatures and I couldn't feel more bitter about the whole thing (no pun intended). The only flipside is we've been getting plenty of sunshine over things like snow and ice. That's Canadian Spring, for ya.
It was only a couple of months ago that I had decided to make the blog private, and it was mostly due to my work situation (Read the full post here). You'll notice that things are back to normal and the blog is public again. This is due to two reasons:
1) For Brian's family and friends to read the tribute post about his mother.
2) Just the other week, I landed a permanent job position, finally! I still work for the education field, but I got out of the schools and instead, am in the office building where things are a lot more low-key and I feel more free with myself and the blog. I am quite happy about this and feel like I got a sense of the "old me" back. Perhaps more to come in a post about this!
My new full time job also means I'm super close to my friends' condo. Just this past summer, we visited Arica and Jason's place for a BBQ and a game night. After work one day, I went to meet them and we grabbed dinner at a local Pho place (veggie for me, though!)
I spent some really nice years at university with these guys, and I can't tell you how great it is again to be near them in the work place now!
A couple of weeks ago, I ended up at the hockey game with Brian' family courtesy of a generous friend. It was only my second time at the game and despite the Leafs' loss, we had a great night and it was so good for all of us to get out again.
Of course, I'm still volunteering at the Humane Society every other week. I admit, sometimes it can be really difficult between work and life, and there's days where I probably can't afford to go in. But it's only a couple of hours of my time and once I'm there sitting around with the cats, there's no where else I'm more proud to be at.
They've also spread some Irish luck at the Humane Society as they get ready for St. Patrick's Day! I've also started with a few things just on the front door of my bedroom.
The St. Patrick's Day gear will start to make a full-on appearance probably more this week. I can't wait :)
Brian and I are fully on board and just caught up with this new popular Netflix show, Riverdale. Were you a fan of the Archie comics as a kid? Full disclosure: it's nothing like the comics! But we guarantee it'll suck you in, even if you think it's as cheesy as Archie's hair colour. My family doesn't have Netflix so I always feel left out when most people are going on about the latest show. At least Brian's family has always been more with the times and we've been loyally watching this at his place just these past couple of weeks. How can we possibly wait another week to see what happens?? Are you yay or nay with this latest series?
Thanks for taking the time to catch up with me this week! What have you been up to lately? How's the weather were you are? I'd love to hear in the comments! Wishing everyone a great week!
