We've had the sights and feels of Spring for awhile now, but tonight they were the strongest I'd felt so far. In fact, it practically felt like a cooler Summer's night! I went for a walk this evening in just sweat pants, runners and a light cardigan (and even then, I was sweating by the end!) and all the nostalgia feelings of spring and an early summer came rushing back to me: the dewy smell in the air, the light breezes, the sunsets, families out and about with their kids in the park, riding bikes or walking their dog, neighbours gardening, and yes, the occasional construction worker starting to patch up new roofs. Most strongly too were flashbacks I had of being in school during this time. The nicer weather seemed to make things feel more exciting back then too, whether we were young kids running around in the school yard or the "big kids" getting ready for our end-of-the-year school trip or latest spring dance. It's a bitter-sweet thing for me right now, especially with times being different to how they were. I'll be sure to reflect more on this as the season progresses.
Even though I have mixed feelings about this film, I can't help thinking about the soundtrack from The Secret Garden and the track "Awakening of Spring" when I see buds and flower bulbs start to pop in. I'll leave that with you tonight if anyone wants to have a listen :)
Does the starting of Spring leave you with any feelings of nostalgia?
