The other morning, I was getting ready for work - just doing my usual morning routine, when I thought, "What would I be doing with this time if I didn't have to work?"
We all have those thoughts, right? If I was rich, I'd travel the world. I'd buy a condo in every country. I'd buy a new car, etc. Before I knew it, my mind was spiralling with possibilities! Even though it'll likely never happen...a person can dream, right?! So I decided to put together a small list of things I'd actually like to be doing if I didn't have to commit to a 9-5 desk job.:
Start My Days Off With Yoga & A Workout
If I was a bajillonaire who didn't have to work to survive, I'd hire an awesome instructor or go to a top-notch class in the morning to do yoga meditation, followed by a great workout or swim.
Go For A Hike
Assuming the weather would also be great with my seemingly perfect life, I'd love to go somewhere and just get lost in the woods. Go for a good hike, disconnect myself from the rest of world, and maybe stop in a quiet spot or small park for a picnic.
Volunteer More & Probably Become An Activist
I mentioned back in January that I started volunteering at an animal shelter, and I absolutely love it. Nothing gives me more satisfaction than helping animals in need and if I didn't have to rely on job to bring in my income, I'd definitely devote more of my time to helping all animals, shelters, and amazing causes, like The Save Moment.
Own Multiple Properties
This is a given, obviously. I'd have one nice place close to my family, maybe a place out in the country to escape the noise of the city, and a nice beach house in the South. I joke to Brian that I dream of having a little farm, too!: some pigs, a few horses, and maybe a couple of chickens.
Whether it's with my endless money or getting rid of things I no longer need, I'd donate.
Because of course I would! And I'd hire my own private jet with the best pilot ever who knows how to avoid turbulence and give me the smoothest flight possible (I hate flying!)
Spoil Friends & Family
The people in my life have always been so good to me, that if I could, I'd love to pay everyone back in the best way possible.
Become A Snowbird
I live in Canada. And I hate winter! Self-explanatory: I'd live down in Florida during our winter months.
Practise My Hobbies (and maybe pick up a few more)
I already play a bit of piano and guitar, but the work life makes it that much harder to practice. If I was super rich, I'd hire a top-notch teacher to help improve my piano skills, guitar, and probably even the drums! Because, why not. I'd love to do more drawing and art, too!
Keep Learning (& Keep Busy!)
Just because I go on about retirement, it does not mean that I plan to sit there and do nothing with all my time (although, I would). Not having to work just means I'll be making time for things that I actually want to do: learn more about my family's history, maybe take a course on organic gardening, or paint a pretty canvas. I've always wanted to paint a pretty canvas!
Because at the end of the day, I love nothing more than to put my feet up and do absolutely nothing. Don't you?
What would you do if you were filthy rich? What would you buy? :)
