Brian and I talk about and envision our future place together all the time: what areas we're interested in moving to, the ideal size we'd like, what we'd cook, and how we'd decorate the place. It always gives us something fun to look forward to. Here's a few things that will be a must-have in our future place!:
1) A wipe & cork-board
I've seen these things lying around in the dollar store, and they're such a great idea! One side to write and wipe out quick notes, and the other to actually post them. Win-win!
2) A digital photo frame
This is absolutely ideal if you're living in a smaller space - or just love to put up a ton of photos! To help keep things less cluttered, this little device acts like a mobile screensaver or a little slideshow displaying any photos you upload to the USB. Brian's aunt has one of these and actually coordinates the photos depending on who's coming over that day! So, if it's Christmas time and she's having family over, she gathers all the family Christmas photos from throughout the years and displays them in a nearby spot for all to enjoy.
3) Scents: candles, diffusers and potpourri
I'm not allowed to light candles at home. Which is a shame, 'cause I have a ton from over the years! It just means we're going to have that much more leftover to sit in our bathroom or living room when we have company over or just a enjoying a cozy night in. I love the idea of diffusers and potpourri too for a more eco-friendly choice.
You know you're grown ups when....! Haha, but seriously! We've both established our own tastes in artwork and already have quite a few frames sitting around that we're basically just saving for our move-in date. Brian's taken an interest in Gregory Madison, an artist from Massachusetts who does some pretty impressive paintings of infamous scenes from movies like Home Alone, Ghostbusters, and Jurassic Park. I like any watercolour painting from the Canadian artist Trisha Romance. I have a few of her prints sitting around in our basement, some decorative dishes, and a coloured booklet of some of her images.
5) Cats of our own
I think it'd be impossible to date me and not end up a crazy cat person to some degree! Through our own nutso felines at home and me volunteering at the pet shelter, Brian's made it pretty clear that we're definitely getting a cat or two of our own. We'd have to get an ideal spot for litter, a few scratching posts, and plenty of love to give. Name(s) still to be determined!
