Brian and I recently celebrated our 3 year anniversary, and so I thought it would be nice to make a sweet and simple home-made card. When it comes to Christmas and sometimes birthdays, I usually buy the cards from the dollar store and then draw a nice little picture inside and add glitter just like I did for the past holidays. For something a bit more sentimental and intimate like an anniversary or Valentine's Day, I enjoy making simple little home-made cards that I know will be more meaningful and treasured.
I had to keep the card more or less simple this year because I was still recovering from a bad cold and had little time to make something that was over-the-top-fancy! Just like most of my cards, I found a cute image of a cartoon couple on Google and just changed around the hair and eye colours so it coordinated with me and Brian. Not only was this cute without being too sappy, but I loved that they were cheering their martini glasses; it seemed appropriate as our "official" anniversary is New Year's Day as well. I drew it in pencil first, coloured it with marker and then outlined it with a thin black tip pen.
I then cut it out and glued it to the front of the card, which was made from some blue construction paper. I always keep an extra pile of stickers in my art kit so the hearts added a nice final touch (which are also perfect to save for Valentine's Day!)
The inside included a short, sweet message and any other stickers I had left over (I didn't even have time to put in some glitter and let it dry!).
And there you have it! A cute, simple and fairly quick-to-make anniversary card for your loved one!
