As soon as the new year hit, it's like it brought the winter tundra with it. It has been absolutely freezing in Ontario these past few days! Even my cats weren't in any mood to step foot outside.
I hope everyone has managed to stay warm!
Naturally over the weekend, we had our first snowfall of 2015. Rather than trucking it out to the malls, I spent the day catching up on some things around the house and decided to take down my Christmas decoration in exchange for more wintery ones.
It's always something bittersweet taking down the Christmas decorations. But once everything is put away, I find the house always looks more spacious and less cluttered. It gets me in the mood to put up something more new and fresh. I went with the theme of snowmen, snowflakes and colours like white, silver and cool blues (everything courtesy of the dollar store!).
We kept the snowman face in the kitchen.
And the Precious Moments snow-globe out.
I traded in the Christmas wreath on my bedroom door for faux silver pines and pinecones. It's meant as a candle holder but I thought it was perfect for a simple, winter-feel wreath. The sparkly foam snowflake underneath is also from the local dollar store.
My tissue box features a cool blue colour with a blue jay sitting among the winter branch and berries.
Aligning the top of my bulletin board are some winter-blue sparkly, snowflake tea candles and one big silver snowflake in the middle that was used as a Christmas ornament.
Two pinecones with gold glitter sit underneath my TV.
A snowman figurine beside the TV.
And hey, all my winter-scented inspired candles from Bath and Body Works!
From top left: Tis The Season (smells like cranberries), Evergreen (smells like pine trees in a winter forest), Sparkling Icicles (smells like a skating rink and light snow), Marshmallow Fireside (smells like marshmallows and a fireplace), and Fresh Balsam room spray (smells like a Christmas tree or just one pine tree).
All this talk of candles and Bath and Body Works got me really excited for their new spring / summer collection they have out now. Brian and I made a pit-stop there over the weekend as always, and we were overcome with the new products.
Things like Island Waters, Ocean Escape, Tiki Coconut, Peach Bellini and Nectarine and Green Tea. The list goes on! Picking one of these up and lighting them in a room can make you forget we are living in -20+, windchill weather sometimes. I can't wait to go back and pick out some of my favourite scents.
And now, I'm off to find dinner and catch a Full House episode. Stay warm on this Tuesday, everyone! :)
