The Autumn Equinox officially arrived last Friday, but it's felt the furthest thing from fall. We've had the hottest days on record this past weekend with temperatures reaching almost 40 degrees with the humidx! (about 104°F!) That's crazy, isn't it?! Because of the hotter weather, I've held off with my fall décor and still find myself wearing white capris well after Labour Day, but it doesn't mean I'm not preparing for the season ahead. Here's some styles I've been loving for fall:
I actually "accidentally" ordered these Winter Wine-coloured pants from Old Navy the other week, thinking they were more of a burgundy colour. But when I tried them on and realized how comfortable they were, I couldn't say no to them! They're very stylish and I actually wore them out the other weekend when I went out with my girlfriends. It's always nice to have a bit of a variety, anyway!
This past weekend, I actually found the original burgundy pants I'd been looking for in Forever 21. I hesitated upon buying them (did I really need a pair now that I had the Winter Wine pants?) But considering how comfortable they were and deciding I could also wear them during the Christmas season, I was sold. Plus when I went up to pay for them, I realized they were half off at just $15! Don't you love when that happens?
I love the store, Giant Tiger here in Canada. Not only are their prices insanely affordable, but they have such nice stuff! Last weekend, I stocked up on a few things and ended up getting this cozy and stylish fall jacket.
We've had plenty of rain this summer, which is odd considering it's more of a spring/fall occasion. I still wanted to be prepared for the season ahead so I ended picking up this super stylish and cute insulated jacket from Winners in a light pink. The length is great, the hood is practical, and there's deep pockets to store your phone or wallet. I also love that it's cruelty-free, stuffed with warm and soft polyester.
I posted about how I got this cozy little shawl from the CNE this past summer. The buttons are personally my favourite touch and I know when the chiller mornings arrive, I'll probably be strutting around the office with this wrapped around me. No shame!
The season of harvest also means I'll be digging out my fall-coloured nail polishes. I love anything from Sally Hansen or InstaDry, as you can find them fairly cheap and they'll last with a good top coat. I love browns, burgundys, greys and deep purple for fall. Even orange, red or a tint of yellow to mimic the changing leaves.
A Few More Things to Prepare for the Season...
Our "fall box" is literally sitting in our basement, all ready to go! Once temperatures drop later this week, you'll likely see our faux fall leaves and orange garlands going up. I've already started bringing up my favourite fall scented candles from Bath and Body Works and the other day, I couldn't resist picking this up in the dollar store for our bathroom:
It's been nice having these warmer temperatures since our summer was a little cooler and rainy, but I'm so ready for crisp mornings, layers, fall leaves and pumpkin spiced-everything! What can I say - I'm a true "basic girl" at heart! (and really - since when did liking fall become a "thing" of basic white girls?? Someone please explain this to me! :)
